J.-Kaniewska-Eroed---FotoVIOLIN & BAROQUE VIOLIN

JOANNA KANIEWSKA-ERÖD - CV English Joanna Kaniewska-Eröd studied violin performance and instrumental education in her home city of Warsaw, graduating with honors. In 2006 she moved to Vienna, where she completed a postgraduate course in chamber music at the University of Music and Performing Arts, studying with Johannes Meissl, and a master’s degree in baroque violin at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna under Ulrike Engel. She completed her graduate concert with honors; her master’s thesis will be presented in January 2017. Her doctoral thesis at Chopin University in Warsaw is dedicated to the interaction of technical and stylistic aspects in modern and historic violin performance. Joanna has broadened her knowledge in numerous master classes, as both a soloist and an ensemble member. Prominent instructors have included Leonidas Kavakos, Hagai Shaham, Antje Weithaas, Kaja Danczowska, Bernhard Forck, Maja Nosowska, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Sergio Azzolini, Ruben Dubrovsky, and the Artemis String Quartet. She has also been a prizewinner of number of international competitions and has been awarded stipends by various institutions. She has performed as a soloist with the Bach Consort Wien, the Jenaer Philharmonie, and the Kammerphilharmonie Amadé, but her great passion has always been for chamber music. Between 2000 and 2010 she toured extensively as a member of the Sandor Quartet, the Alkemia Piano Trio. In 2012 she founded the baroque violin/soprano duo “Joanna & Ewa”, (which had its debut concert in Vienna’s Radiokulturhaus); since 2013 she has performed with Ensemble Parnasse, an early music chamber ensemble of which she is also a co-founder. Her extensive orchestral experience is a further testament to her versatility: between 2007 and 2012 she performed with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, as first-chair of the second violins in the Kammerphilharmonie Amadé, and as second concertmaster of the Tiroler Kammerorchester Innstrumenti. She now performs regularly with the Vienna Classical Players and the Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna. She is equally active in the early music scene, having toured a number of times with the European Union Baroque Orchestra in 2012; she currently performs with the Bach Consort Vienna, the Capella Leopoldina and Barucco. In 2014 and 2015 she served as concertmaster and coach for the youth project “Jugend macht Oper” in the Theater an der Wien; since 2015 she has been docent and first chair of the second violins in the chamber orchestra Æsthetica Musicalis. Joanna is also an active educator, teaching at the Anton Stadler Music School in Bruck an der Leitha and serving as a long-term substitute teacher at the Wienerwald Mitte Music School. She is also a frequent teacher at master classes, where she offers both instrumental instruction and lessons in her “FIVE dynamics” bodywork program for musicians.
